Chill Out Water recognizes
the importance of conserving natural resources and the benefits they
provide for current and future generations. We firmly support the Johannesburg
goals (World Summit on Sustainable Development 2002) and strive to help
create more sustainable patterns of production and consumption Our approach
focuses strategically on our major environmental impacts and those of
the businesses we supply. Primarily we target conserving natural resources
and minimizing pollution and place a great emphasis on recycling. Pure
Food Systems Limited is strongly committed to helping protect and enhance
the environment

Out Water Environmental Policy in ACTION
Durable machines
The machines we provide are
of an extremely high standard and we are dedicated to their maintenance.
On average a water cooler can be expected to last 3 years. We can proudly
boast the possession of water coolers which were built in 1980 and are
still in operation today. Through extending the life of the water coolers,
materials and energy are conserved and thus the environment is benefited.
Recycling
We regularly recycle machines.
Rather than wasting lots more energy and resources by building new water
coolers we frequently reuse materials and reclad the machines in order
to protect the environment. Our policy is always to encourage the use
of recyclable cups. Conventional water coolers waste mountains of cups
and bottles. If one were to estimate there to be 300, 000 water coolers
in the UK, and suppose there were five users per water cooler. If they
were to drink one and a half litres of water per week each user would
use on average 35 cups each week. The result would be fifty two and
a half million cups being wasted every year!
Energy Conservation
We are keen to promote the
use of plumbed-in water coolers rather than bottled water coolers. Plumbed-in
water coolers provide the same quality of water as bottled water coolers
but are more environmentally friendly. Plumbed-in water coolers remove
the necessity for water bottles to be transported and thereby reduce
the amount of fuel emissions and decrease the level of pollution. Over
1 million litres of fuel are used in delivering water bottles- the environment
would benefit greatly if these companies changed to plumbed-in water
coolers. Pure Food Systems manager, Nick Mattey, is deeply concerned
about the environment and calculated that if the aqueduct at Nime in
the south of France had not been available and the Romans had used water
coolers they would have needed 5000 40 tonne lorries a day to supply
the same amount of water.
Energy Efficient
We have successfully adapted
a chiller unit for water cooler use. Our water cooler uses 75% less
energy than an ice bank cooler and has advantageous cooling powers.
Furthermore we have developed machines which operate solely during the
time in which the business desires to man them. A typical business requires
the machine for fifty hours per week but often water coolers are in
use for over one hundred and sixty hours per week.
